Propaganda: Module Seven

  • We all like to think of ourselves as independent thinkers. But propaganda pushes us to think as a unified group. Understanding the broad principles of propaganda, such as total propaganda and total propaganda, can help us to resist its influence.
  • Education tends to make people more receptive to the influence of propaganda.
  • Propaganda plays on emotions. It also works because the propagandist knows what we want to hear. They tailor their message to appeal to what we want to believe. So, propaganda works because we want it to work. There are no unwilling victims in propaganda.
  • Knowing the particular propaganda techniques will make you resistent to their affects, because you will recognize that they are attempting to fool you.
